The North Somerset Yeomany went to the Great War in 1914 to 1918. They rode into battle carrying their rifles with them on their Horses, and wore uniform typical of the English Army of the epoch.

 

One of the Yeomanry Bases and Horse training "Fields" was based in the West Country Somersetshire town of "Shepton Mallet".

 

The soldiers and Horses departed the town on the eve of war riding to the Port on trains provided by the G.W.R Railway Company.  This Figure is a Comemorative set representing a Cousin, a  member of the authors own family.
