This was one of the Emigre Regiments in foreign service. It took part in the evacuation of Port Au Prince, and was largely formed of Foreign Immigrant troops under French Officers. Later on the Regiment had more British Officers and became named "YORK" Hussars. A Historical Record tells us that the band of the York Hussars entertained the Public and local Dignitaries during their Parade at the West COuntry Seaside resort of Weston Super Mare.
